Research Ethics & Integrity

Makerere University is committed to conducting and supporting research that meets the highest standards of ethical conduct, scientific integrity, respect for human dignity and protection of research participants. Research Ethics Committees (RECs) affiliated with the University play a critical role in ensuring that research involving human participants is conducted in accordance with applicable ethical, regulatory and institutional requirements.

The DRIP works with the University’s affiliated RECs and relevant regulatory bodies to strengthen research ethics governance, capacity, quality assurance and compliance, while supporting researchers to navigate ethical review requirements throughout the research lifecycle.
